The costuming meme

1. What is your dirty little secret when it comes to costume construction?
I line almost everything with muslin. Almost all of my gowns and outfits are lined in nothing but plain ole muslin.

Okay, so something evil...ummm...plastic canvas is my friend when making French hoods or other hats. Which reminds me...I need to make an Elizabeth Tall hat before the fall..hmmm...

2. What are you the most proud of when it comes to your costume construction?
The overall look. Does it look like what I wanted it to look like? If it does, I'm happy.

3. Which of your costumes do you think you look the best in?
A lot of people tell me I look best in the early 16th c Italian. I like those and my 1530's Tudors as well...

4. What style of costume would you never be caught dead in?
Chainmail bikini with nothing else.

5. What was your all-time favorite Halloween costume?
I've had so many! I guess of the ones when I was little, maybe the pink elephant one when I was 3. I *loved* Dumbo and really wanted to dress up as a pink elephant except...it had to be pink elephants on parade because, otherwise, ya know, it just isn't right! (Yes, I was all about accuracy in the look very early on. :-p) So, my Dad & Mom both wore pink jumpsuits with pink elephant heads so we could all go trick or treating as pink elephants on parade. :-)

6. If time/money/skill was no object, what would you be for Halloween this year?
Maybe the evil stepmother from the Israeli version of Snow White from back in the 80's. Some of the costuming from that film was really good but the stepmom's? Totally 80's.

7. Which is more important to you in a costume - style, or comfort?
I have to choose?

8. What comfort do you refuse to give up when wearing a costume?
Hmmm....undies.

9. Where is the strangest place you've ever worn a costume?
Movie theater.

10. If you see a non-costuming friend or coworker while you are in costume, would you go say "Hi!" or run and hide?
The seek me out. Honest. My supervisor last year caught me at the Renaissance Festival in my pink Tudor with my parents. I was really sick the day before and missed work. My parents wanted to go to the Renn Fest (and needed their tour guide) so I got dressed and went with them. I still was REALLY out of it (nothing new) but Dawn didn't care. She was just happy to see me in one of my gowns finally.

I cant give up the undies either! It gets a bit chilly without them. ;P

I'll wear bloomers...just over the modern undies. :-) There are certain things that just need to be kept modern...although I have seen a painting of the Baptism of Christ that shows a lady undressing in the background (15th/16th c?) and she has what looks similar to modern underwear on...and then there is the famous Roman bikini mosaic..so modern may not be that modern after all!

Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter to you as well!

And I wear the drawers over modern undies too. It makes for an interesting time in the bathroom, but well worth it. ;)
