What the heck?

Very off subject..well it does deal with Classical music so not totally off subject but..

I turned on my radio today. I had it tuned to 103.5, the classical music station and all they were doing was talking! About news! for Five minutes! I didn't want to hear all that so I changed to 104.1 and heard....Classical Music?!? What the heck? Where is my Rock station? Where are a whole bunch of songs I can sing along too?
So I checked the dial. Yes, I had pressed the right button. Yes, it does say 104.1 but rather than Joan Jett, I heard Mozart! I changed back to 103.5, maybe my radio was broken, but alas, no...still talking!
So I see my brother up the street and talk to him (he was walking one of the dogs, and I was head to pay my storage unit fee so I was driving) and he looked at me funny when I told him there was something odd with the radio. I showed him that the Classical Music was now on 104.1.
My mom then drove up on the other side of me (Yes, I know this sounds wierd but Mom had just gotten back from picking my Joey, another brother, when she saw myself and Randy talking so she drove up next to me.) and she wanted to know what was going on as well.
So I got home, went to the http://moremusic104.com/ website and....they messed up all the stations! z104 is no more! WTOP now has a mini monopoly on the radio! I'm seriously considering only listing to the Classical Radio at the other end of the dial now becuase no one seems to have recieved any warning regarding this shake up.

Yes! The same thing happened to me! I tuned into 104.1 today and it was classical! I figured that they must have changed format like HFS did a few months ago. Sigh.

It's far worse that HFS. At least with HFS, I heard about it shutting down a good week or so before and was prepared! With this, there was no warning!

I didn't hear about HFS til after! I flipped past it at a little after noon (and it had switched at noon!) and I was like WTF?

:-)

I hate the disregard with which commercial radio makes these changes. When WHFS changed formats, I wanted to boycott the advertisers on the new format. Unfortunately, the new format was Spanish speaking, and I never figured out who the ads were for.

WTOP and WGMS do not suffer from this linguistic barrier, however. You do not have to consent to being treated like a mushroom.

Escucharé la radio para usted y le dice mañana.....quizá

I need a new Classical Radio station now. I don't want to listen to the monopolotic (I invented a new word!) WTOP/WGMS.

The baltimore classical station is pretty good, I can't remember the number off the top of my head, though. I was very bummed when I discovered this last night on my way home. I often change channels frequently so I have music to listen to (hate those commercials), and was very surprised 104.1 was now playing what I expected from 103.5. Yikes! Good thing I keep my cds in the car for emergencies...
