Sewing update!

I went to hobby lobby today and bought the fabric I've been wanting for a 1530's Saxon court gown. It's 100% synthetic but look at that pattern! I'm pairing it with a red cotton velvet I have.

The middle trim -what do you think? 18th Century, yea or nay?

Love that damask!!

The trim... the colors look a little too fake-bright for 18th c. to me. It's certainly pretty though! Maybe try sun-bleaching it?

I think the colors are just off due to the flash. The trims behind it are black to the left and a lovely goldenish cream to the right. In the photo, it looks white. :-/

The real colors are about two shades darker than the photo (as I'm holding it up and comparing it to my baby laptop screen...). Based on everyone's suggestions, though, I'm thinking either using it for a storybook (ie fantastical) outfit or Victorian.
