Another Ginsie update

She had another seizure this morning at about 3:30 am. I did get a reply to an email I sent to the vet neurologist and I'm going to take her in. I'm not sure I should even go to work because I'm really worried about her having a seizure and no one being around to help her. Not a minute after I wrote that, the power went out (winds plus wet equals down trees!). I'm looking at it as a sign I should probably stay home with the pup and take her to the vet rather than even attempt work. I know a couple of people will be mad -they will think I'm skipping out on the unit luncheon again- but I also know that once I point to the picture of Ginsie and mention "seizure" that will explain it easily.

Well, no SCA event this weekend for me. I was hoping to go because I love the food at Day in the Middle East (and an Italian wearing Turkish is perfectly period) but Ginsie takes priority over playing.

Edit:

So I called up Mom at 7:30 am and she said for me to go to work and she'd be right over with Miss Ginsie -only to remind me Ginsie was fine when she was at Mom's house yesterday and most of the seizures seem to take place at night. Fine. so I go to put the laundry in the dryer, come back out, and Ginsie is in another seizure. So much for the only at night thing... yeah, not going to work.

The neurologist (yes, they have 'em for dogs) is thinking about giving her keppra in conjugation with the zonisamide. I'm hoping that will work but I can't see him until Tuesday. (An Emergency Visit is $425 versus $275 for an appointment....my parents are more than willing -thank God- to help out with her vet bills but I do not want to take advantage of their generosity like that.)

I left a message for her regular vet and Ginsie does seem to do better when she's up an active so.... We'll see. I have three days where I won't be out of her sight. Mom and Dad have already stated they'll take her Monday and help me on Tuesday by letting me leave her with them after the appointment so I can actually go to work. Sadly, I sort of like work now... And I'd like to go back. Eventually.

Me too. :-/ The neurologist wants to add a different medication to what I'm giving her -which I'm all for. I have zero issues with feeding the pup medications. I do have an issue when those medications aren't doing what they are supposed to though....
