Knitting Project

The bag I was knitting is almost done. I once again need like a foot more of yarn to actually finish the project. That's pretty common for me. Although the first pattern I was going for didn't come out great, the overall affect is quite lovely (or so I think). I made the "honeycomb" pattern the flap for the bag. The rest of the bag is done in a basketweave pattern (k6,p6, k6, p6, k6 repeat for 6 rows then p6, k6, p6, k6, p6 repeat for 6 rows, continue on that pattern forever...) The basketweave came out GORGEOUS. It "fades" to white from blue on the bag.

Honeycomb design and dog ear I think a BIG part of the problem was the fact I used a verigrated yarn rather than a plain yarn. It makes the design near impossible to see. The other problem is that I went the wrong way on the first "comb" which messed up part of the overall design.

Knitting laid flat with dog's head Ginsie just had to get in the photo. :-)

Close up of the basketweave I really like the way this came out. It just looks "nice".

What the finished bag will look like It's just a simple, everyday, bag. It will hold my wallet, phone, and epi-pen!

The honeycomblooks really good in variegated yarn, even if the definition isn't as crisp as it is in plain yarn.

:-) Then it's just me. That's okay. It was my first time actually attempting to follow a pattern for knitting rather than just going "I wonder what happens if I do this instead!" I was trying to follow this (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y98/petrastrickt/Stulpenchartengl.jpg) it just didn't come out right; especially at the start. It did get better as I went along (you can almost see a diamond-esque honeycomb shape at the top, really!). However, the old "let's see what this does!" basketweave came out far better. ...and that was because I thought it would look like a checkerboard....
