Knitting update

What I've been knitting while riding the metro
Can you tell what this is supposed to be? Does it look okay? Is this any good?

Suggestion/Comments/Ect very much encoraged because this is the first time I tried using two colors and I designed the designs on my own. This is totally patternless and just based (loosely) on the 14th c relic bags.

It's a seahorse, and it looks great!

Thanks! Yay! So, at the very least, I got the shape right enough that people know what it's supposed to be. This is a good start.

It's Spike!! Me likey Spikey. :-)

Did you use one of the Atlantian Embroidery Guild's Spike patterns or did you free-form him?

Either way, the bag rocks! Not that I expected anything less from you... :-)

Thanks! I kinda free formed. I couldn't find the Spike patterns (I knew they were somewhere but couldn't remember where) so I went to paintbrush and made up a grid and started to play with the grid until I got a pattern I liked. I then followed my own lil grid pattern.
However, I really had no idea what I was doing. This was one of those "You should make a bag! It doesn't require a lot of yarn!" and me going "Oh! Pretties! I need pretties!". So, I slowly figured out what to do and it ended up being this.

Definitely a pretty!! And the Spike is very, very nicely done. Can't wait to see it in person. Of course, that means I'll have to make it to an event soon! :-)

Very cool. I was discussing it with Roxanne Greenstreet ('cuz she actually KNOWS about knitting beyond "it uses sticks and fiber"...I'm hoping to get you two together at Sapphire for geeking.

And it is most definately a spike, easily recognizable and I'm VERY impressed. I can't wait to see it (and you) in person!

Oh! New people to talk too and blabber. :-)

I'm so glad. I was going through the whole "am I just seeing a seahorse because I know it's supposed to be a seahorse?" thing...kind alike the five year old that knows thae drawing s/he made is of his/her family because, well, s/he drew it! As long as everyone else knows it's a seahorse/Spike without me saying it is, I'm okay. :-)

It's a very recognisable seahorse! I love the colors you chose too - very ocean-y!

Thanks! They're the Atlantian heraldic colors (SCA, Kingdom of Atlantia is MD, VA, NC, SC, and part of GA). The blue is some wool I spun last year. It looks like I'll have enough leftover for a change purse! :-)
