My mini rant

I love Highland River Melees. It's a fun event and I like the area. The problem I have with it is that, despite the fact it's in a city park, despite the fact it's open to the public, despite the fact that on the Hager house website it's being billed at a Renaissance Festival, and despite the fact there are doggie clean up stations all around the site, they don't allow dogs. Yes, this rant again.
This one really makes me mad because it is open to the public. So the public can bring their dogs? So the guys that read "oh renn fest!" on the website can bring their dogs? The non-paying people get to bring their dogs but those of use that actually want to do more than shop and watch people fight aren't? Ummm..huh? So, since I want to enter one of my A&S projects into the competition, I can't bring Ginsie?
They had dogs in the middle ages. People took their dogs with them to various places in the middles ages. If we are truely trying to re-create the middle ages, shouldn't we allow people today to bring their dogs? (Yeah yeah, I know...I should move to France. Tres mal. Je ne parle pas le Francais bien.)
It's a city park. People come through there all the time walking their dogs. You won't be able to prevent a dog incident when muggles are walking through with their dogs. The LOGICAL thing to do is just make it a rule that the dog must be with his or her owner at all times and that no dog can be tied up on a tree/pole/ect at any time. That the dog must be on a leash and well behaved. Any dog found to be not behaving's owner will be asked to leave with the dog. It's not hard. You just need someone who can politely but firmly kick people out. We need a person like that at most events for mis-behaved children and adults....
