Saturday was GREAT! I loved seeing so many of my friends at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. I wore my strawberry outfit which is nothing more than some old Laura Ashely strawberry print fabric for a bodice, strawberry pink silk for an overskirt, and green crinkle cotton (the heavy weight, not the gauze) for an underskirt. I made it back in 2003 I think.
Anyways, I wore that and I ran around the festival about three times. It was just fun to listen to the music, giggle and make snarky comments at certain individuals (will explain in a bit), and basically just be there.
Now, appearantly some people have yet to learn about this invention called a bra. If you are going to wear anything and you are female, you typically need some sort of support. This can come in the fashion of a corset, a heavy weight bodice, or a bra. Heck, I've even seen some decent taping/binding that will do the trick. If you refuse to wear one of these options and you are bigger than an A cup, please stay home. For the love of all that is holy, I nor anyone else wishes to see you get a bruise on your chin like that.
To the lady who was sporting the spagetti strap tank top and shorts: You are about a size 20W. You need a bra. Please. I don't like seeing my own stretch marks and I really don't like seeing yours. When your annoying little brat was interrupting a conversation, I turned to you and I could see EVERYTHING. That was just scary. Yes, I understand its hot but that really isn't any excuse to not have some support.

To the gentleman sporting the overalls and the t-shirt: You are plain scary sir. The tan overalls, the green t-shirt, and your overall build made me wonder where you parked your John Deer tractor. Did you not notice that you stood out in a crowd of freaks and geeks? When even the wenches are looking at you like "What the heck?" you have issues. (Sorry my dearly beloved wenches but for those of you who know which I'm talking about, you know why. ) And that crazy look on your face made me wonder if you were going to run someone through with a pitchfork....

To the kid wearing the batman outfit: What the heck? Darlin', since your parents obviously didn't knock and sense into and let you go out like that, let me explain. A) This is a Renaissance festival....way before Batman. If this was a WWII recreation, then maybe. B) Pleather and 90+ degrees f do NOT mix. Especially black pleather with a polyester cape. I'm sure you fainted once you got into the gate.

To all the people who wore velvet and are now complaining: Umm...you just get an honorable mention. I mean really, 90+ and velvet is never a good combo. Now I see some of you are complaining you got heat exhaustion...well, in the immortal words of Homer Simpson "DUH!" Full Elizabethan with the velvet sleeves and petticoats does that too you. So does wearing full 1750's pirate outfits...particularly with heavy weight cotton twill frock coats dyed black...

I should add that the gentlemen and the lady I was standing in line with for our photos and I decreed that wearing panne velvet tight pants on guys (and only a doublet on top) is just as bad as not wearing a bra or a bodice/corset is on a girl.

and lastly, to the grown man wearing foam armor...even you two year old looked embarrassed. (I think I actually got a picture of this guy. I'll post him later)

So for work issues, I am on a temporary transfer for the next two weeks because I volunteered to help out another unit. This means I'll be away from the jerk for two whole weeks and I'll also have "normal" weekends (sat and sun rather than fri and sat). It will be boring but I'd much rather be bored right now that irate. I'm much cuter when I'm bored and people don't tend to die....
