a small update
Sep. 28th, 2005 11:16 amSorry, I'm really sick. I have a lung infection on top of my cold along with anemia. So I have nearly no iron with a virus and an infection. And I was wondering why I could stand up for more than a minute....hmm...
Okay, garb related stuff. Here's an interesting situation. I decided I wanted to recreate the gold brocade gown from the movie Ever After. Not too big a deal since I've done the work gown, the just breathe gown, and the wine gown already. The problem is, the moss green velvet I ordered for the sleeves off of ebay. You see, they came in boxes labeled "termite bait" aka termite poison. Now, I'm not one to normally care what the box was previously used for, but poisonous chemicals get my attention.
So I haven't opened it yet. It's been sitting next to the threshold in the hallway for two days now....partly because I couldn't lift it any further than that. Like I said, I've been really sick. I emailed the seller and polietly asked what the heck she was thinking only to be told that it was from a box factory that sold their "Seconds" and it never contained the chemicals. Okay, but ummm...why would anyone use a box that says poisons on it to begin with when shipping stuff? Isn't it illegal?
So, my plan of action is thus: open it outside on the porch so it's well ventilated. Take the fabric through the garage to the laundry room and wash that fabric at least twice. Spray enough febreeze on it and maybe wash it again to make sure there is nothing whatso ever that could kill me in it...unless I suddenly become allergic to febreeze but that's a whole nother issue.
My other garb stuff. Happiness is getting 16 yards of gorgeous gold brocade for an Elizabeth gown. Depression is when the dog claims it for her bed. First, Shiloh, mom's dog, descided to rub his face all in it and then Ginsie, my pup, decided that wasn't right. After all, she knew it was my fabric, I'm her mistress, and thereby, she must protect my fabric. So she rubbed her back on the fabric and decided the fabric makes a great bed.
