Blue Tudor Gown
Apr. 10th, 2006 12:06 amNo pics yet but I'm almost done with it. The main problem I had is that the velvet I used was embossed with a one way design and it wasn't quite wide enough just to fold it in half and cut out everything. So I had to cut out the sleeves and the skirt pieces one at a time. (basically, when the pattern said "cut 2" I had to cut the pieces twice)
So, I should finish all the sewing and everything tomorrow. Then it's time for the black velvet tudor gown which won't be nearly has bad. For one thing, I don't need to make "modifications" to the pattern. For the blue velvet gown, I had to make sure the sleeves were detachable. I also have to make caps on the bodice to hide the ties for the sleeves. And then the bodice and skirts are three seprate pieces...basically every piece of the blue tudor had to be totally seperate. For the black tudor, it can be all one piece and not funny designs!
Then i'll finish up my Easter dress hopefully and then....Mom's gown. She wants Susan's Archery gown from Narnia. When she saw it she stated "oh! Sis! That! I want that for a renn gown!" And I can't say no to mom. :-) Or bother to tell her that princess line seams aren't historically accurate....:-) So she wants it out of green silk because she loves the gold silk I got for the underskirt to the blue tudor. That shouldn't be too bad.
