I finished making one of my Pennsic dresses. It's a midish/lateish 15th c Italian gown that laces up the front. I just need something that I can easily throw on and not hunt people down to lace me up...not that I think that would be hard to do at Pennsic or anything. :-)

The gown has a cotton satine rusty red bodice with a coral reddish organza look skirt. The colors match beautifully. I found a half of a yard of the rusty red and 2 5/8 yards of the organza (poly) in the remnant section of Hancock fabrics. They looked so lovely together I knew I had to make something out of them. :-)

So I hand drafted (no patterns what so ever, no pictures of a pattern either) the bodice and then I cut the organza in half to make two rectangles for the skirt. I pleated the skirt to the bodice and put some gold circle lacing things on the front of the bodice to lace it up.

All together, the dress looks fine. I probably will take it apart a little bit and put some boning in the front since I was in such a rush today and simply forgot. It looks fine without it but it would help with boning. I might also go back and add some embroidery around the edges. I'll post pics tomorrow.
