What to do when you don't have a sewing machine

You take apart a hat of course! I really wanted one of the crownless sun hats that the Italians wore to lighten their hair. The hat keeps the sun off your face, but will lighten your hair...perfect for Pennsic! But I couldn't find one anywhere. Scratch that; I couldn't find one that was at a decent price and didn't have a huge inside brim thing. I had found one that was lovely at an antique store for $40...and I just can't justify $40 on something I know I'm going to trample, crush, and probably will end up in the mud at least once...that and I remembered seeing the flat "wreaths" only a few years ago for $3 in a craft store.

So i bought a regular $2.50 straw hat and cut out the crown. I just have to sew the straw end into the brim and it will be perfect. Plus, with the crown, I think I might cover it and make it a nice lil Turkish hat.

How I spent my fourth of July

Just some videos from the fireworks on the mall. Two of the movies are only 30 seconds, but the last one is a lil over 2 minutes.
