More Random Stuff
Mar. 24th, 2008 11:10 pmWell, I'm either going to get a transfer soon or I'm going to get a new job. I'm going for an interview for a new job at the end of the week. I really am excited.
Some of you may remember the green roofed Tudoresque shops known as "Little Taverns" that were through-out the B'More/DC area until the early 90's. In Nov 2007 the Laurel one closed and many believed forever. Little Taverns, for those not in DC or those that don't remember, were sort of like White Castle but oh so much better. They were small burgers with just a pickle, onions, and mustard. You could always add cheese as well. They came in packs of threes and they were delicious.
I used to eat these all the time when we came to visit Grandma and Papa in the 80's and then when we moved here in the 90's. I was so upset when they closed all the restaurants down in the 90's and always hoped they'd come back. However, only three remained in operation and with the closure of the Laurel one, it was only two...
Well, the Laurel one is open as of early Jan 2008. They are selling donuts now as well but they still have the same old burgers. They are still just as good as they were years ago. Apparently a lot of people were coming in asking about the burgers because the owner put up a "Yes, we have burgers" sign. It was not crowded and the inside has changed dramatically but it's the same burgers and the same green and white building on the outside.
I haven't sewn a bit today. I really should but I didn't get home until late. Stupid traffic. It took me an hour and 45 minutes to get home because of an accident on the other side of the Beltway! Yes, there wasn't a single accident on my side but because there were 6 tow trucks on the other side, everyone had to stop and gawk...and it backed up traffic from Tysons Corner to Connecticut Ave (about 10 miles or so). Ugh. Tomorrow is sewing day.
