Jun. 16th, 2008 10:07 amThe bad news first: I didn't get my promotion...again. They claim there are multiple grammatical errors and that I should get an independent proof reader. So the three I did get weren't good enough? I'm sure my supervisor, acting supervior, and old Unit Chief would all love to hear that...
The Good news:
I am trying to talk to the head of the board and see what he wasdrinking seeing when he read over my promotional package. If nothing else, I might write up an email to higher up the chair and just ask the really big boss to sign off on my promotion before July. Since, honestly, I need the money. Badly.
The other good news:
Mom is coming to Pennsic for the entire week! Woohoo! So Patricia D'Angelo will be camping with me. :-) She loves the very early 16th c English fashions. I might make her a couple of kirtles and a couple of Floretine gowns. I'm remaking my old blue linen one for her so she'll be clothed. Yes, I'm doing this before Pennsic...this year. She has a "cotehardi" (ugh, I hate using that term...) out of green silk but she needs a lot more garb than just that.
(She decided she didn't like Turkish. I really think she'll love early Florentine since she wants something "fitted" up top.) She does have a plaid skirt so I could break out a simple bodice for that too. The chemises aren't hard at all so I can make all the chemises she needs in a day and the bodice. This is assuming I work the entire day...which won't be hard since my home computer bit the dust.
So, Right now I'm in the finishing up my garb phase and starting to work on Mom's garb. The pink Eleanor gown is coming along nicely. I should have that done in plenty of time for Pennsic. I might have the partlet done by Thursday.
The purple Scottish Italian gown didn't get done in time. I'm re-cutting the skirt and then attaching it to the bodice. It will be done for Pennsic.
On Saturday I wore my old Irish gown with my safforn colored Liene and plaid skirt. The Irish gown may not be period but everyone loved it. I'll post pictures later and hopefully a link.
