Pennsic on the brain
Jul. 31st, 2008 01:50 pmI can go home now, right? Please? My boss pretty much told me just to hang around and play on the computer because no big meeting today despite the fact we need one, badly. I guess they'll just email me where the heck I'm supposed to be on the 11th?
Minor edit: Did my job for the day. Played translator between the home unit and the computer nerds. Yeap, that really is my job. Is a lot of fun. No, really, it is. I listen to the non-computer people "I want like ya know that thingy that maybe can make a sound or something when there is something I should look at" and tell the computer people "They want alerts. Similar to the alerts you have on X program or Z system. It's a bit more complicated but it would be useful." Because, otherwise, the computer nerds scratch their heads and go "What the heck is s/he talking about?!?" Does translating illerate computer person to nerd count me as a language translator? :-)
I made a list and I think I know where everything I want is. I just need to mow the grass, do laundry, finish packing, load up the truck, and finish a few more Atlantian mullets. Then I can go play. Depending on how late I stay up, I might just drive up tonight and end up there in the morning, then crash. I've done stuff like that before. I have so much adreline running through my system that I can't sleep and look like I've just eaten pixie sticks and straight syrupy slurrpies for dinner.
The one big thing I need to do before I get up there is go to home depot and get a 12 x 14 tarp. I went to the local hardware store here and they only had 8 x 10 and 10 x 20. I have an 8 x 10 and the 10 x 20 is too big. I was going to get interesting colored duck tape but I just don't have the time to go up to Laurel right now and get some. Oh well, next year. I'll just bring the red stuff for now...
Once I get to Pennsic, get everything mostly set up, I need to go to the local hardware store there and get a couple of 6 x 8 plywood boards. Hopefully, they'll have that and it won't be $$$. I need to remember my rugs...all of them.
