The making of Viking Pup! Part 1
Oct. 8th, 2008 10:31 pmThe Origin of Viking Pup
Viking Pup started off as any other domesticated canine. Her life was about to change when suddenly her owner decreed that she must wear the outfit of her homeland, Storvik! Reluctantly, Viking Pup tried on her new tunic. It was poorly pinned and only a start to what would become the warrior's true outfit. However, a spark gleamed in the Viking Pup's eye as she realized what the future may hold. She almost refused to budge to allow her owner to take off the new muslin, afraid that her latest realization may fade with the loss of the new clothing. However, her owner had other plans in mind, such as a new apron dress and to make the entire outfit out of materials that were both pleasing to Viking Pup's eyes (she LOVES purple!) and historically accurate for Vikings (linen and wool!).
Check out the next adventure of Viking Pup as she transforms into her new identity tomorrow afternoon! (Assuming I cut everything out and at least sew up the tunic).
....As the narrator/owner, allow me to say that fitting a dog for a t-tunic is interesting. Amazingly, if you use what I'm told are correct cuts for 9th/10th c Viking gowns with the elongated gores along the sides that run the length of the gown and hit the top of the bottom/armpit of the sleeve, they fit pups really really well. Not that the Viking's dressed up their pups or anything. Not saying they couldn't have but I have a feeling the Vikings tended more to the spiky collars than putting their pups in "people" clothing. Not that Miss Ginsie seemed to mind either. I do have a pair of brooches and beads so she'll be set as Viking Pup. ...and yes, I know this crazy. I don't care. ;-p
