isabelladangelo: (Arwen Sleeve)
I went to the Narnia exhibit in Philadelphia today after my morning meeting. It was AWESOME!!! It costs an arm and a leg to get into it but they do try to make it interactive. Thank you so much [livejournal.com profile] feymaker for transcribing my last post. That really helps a lot!

For reference, the first page of my notes are on the clothing in this picture. They aren't wearing the sweaters in that picture but it should help explain what I was looking at.

According to the notes (and my memory since this was all of five hours ago!) Peter's outfit is a grey linen shirt. The pants look to be a grey wool with black and red pinstripes.

Susan is wearing a white, possibly cotton, shirt with a really nice wool half circle skirt that buttons up the front. You can see a picture of the sweater here. I was trying to show in my sketch that it's about 3 inches of ribbing, with pockets hidden in the ribbing on either side. The sweater is a V-neck, open front and is very much a grey sweater.

The skirt she wears is a russet color with green and yellow plaid on it. It really is very pretty.

My next page of notes starts with Lucy's dress. It's a really cute purple calico with "wings" along the chest that have a faux layer of white behind them, outlining the wings, and purple flower buttons down the front. The sweater is slightly more ornate than Susan's and is a really pretty green color.

For the white witch's gown I guess I wasn't too far off on "roving". It really did look like that close up but it makes sense that it was felted wool and silk. It had a neat "lace" overlay that is a mix of silk organza and silver thread. The under structure looked like thin boning and cotton. It went around and into the sleeves so the arms hugged it up. The felted material and lace was then draped over the structure.

This section of notes starts with Edmund's outfit. Hopefully you can see what I mean by "shorts" in that photo. They are a grey wool. The sweater was really a very polo looking knit sweater out of a thin brown yarn that was closely knit.

The last of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe costumes is that of Ginarrbrik who is the dwarf that serves the White Witch. He had a chain mail tunic that went to the knees. There was a separate chainmail yoke that was over a leather one. He had a red wool tunic beneath all this and leather gauntlets. The pants didn't look like anything more than black cotton.

I'll get into the rest of my notes (Prince Caspian) tomorrow. I have all the notes up on Flickr if anyone wants to go through them right now. Any questions, feel free to ask. I can make up really good answers!
