Poe Dress

The dress is almost done. Yes, it's midnight. It will be done before two am, I swear! The skirt...the skirt was the skirt from Hell. It's not perfect but I'm at the point where I just don't care. I was trying to achive this lovely treatment but minus the bows and in black. Do you know how much the tulle hated me? I mean, completely and totally hated me? It was horrible!

So, I got it to the "I just don't care, it's done!" point and it will be fine. I think. I hope. Now, to attach the bodice to the skirt and pray I don't do something stupid like put the skirt on inside out or something. I already sewed up the seam twisted.... that was not fun.

So, around two in the morning, I put the mostly completed dress on the dress form and there it shall sit. I think it will go in the "unfinished projects" pile for a very long time because it was just giving me too many issues. So, rather than purple silk with black highlights, I'm wearing black wool. All, completely, black wool.

The bodice to this one is far from perfect (too big for one thing...) but it looks a lot better than the purple silk thing, The purple was just getting too...costumy. The black wool at least looks reasonably like clothing. ...even if I did make it in two hours last night....

Poe was lovely. I'll write more about it when I've had more than three hours of sleep. :-)

Absolutely stunning muslin gown circa 1800~1810. I, personally, don't think it's as late as 1810 but it's an absolutely stunning gown. Check out the bodice and notice how the fabric was embroidered, then cut. :-)

1820's gown in olive silk. I really love this and would bid more if I didn't need a new vacuum cleaner so badly...

This one claims to be from around the 1810's. It looks like a remake to my eyes but I very well could be wrong...
