Dark Green Shantung for $1.95 a yard. Really. I'm not a big fan of green, particularly on me, but it's hard to say no to silk at $1.95 a yard. I ended up with 20 yards because...it's hard to say no to silk at $1.95 a yard.

Violet silk chiffon at $1.95 a yard. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it but I got 5 yards. Maybe ummm...another overskirt? ....I'll think on this.

So, ladies (and gentlemen), silk! on sale! Squee!

EDIT: I just looked and they took both down. I know there was 150 yards of the green silk when I posted this. There were 80 when I went to lunch an hour ago. It's amazing how quickly it went!

This is all because I read the New Testament in the original Greek a decade ago...I think...

Geeking out

I promise to post pictures later today or tomorrow but right now, I'm so completely giggly over my latest acquisitions its scary. I have, in my possession, two late 18th c stays. Squee! The blue pair I have are so completely 1790's Regency its just amazing to drool over them. They even still have the tiny hip pads! The green pair, I think, are even earlier (1770's?) but it's hard to tell. They are't exactly as distinctive as the blue pair are.

I just doubled my 18th c antique clothing collection!!!! (And now I have something to help me create a decent pair of Regency stays.) Much more later.

Pictures!

The clickable photo on the right are the stays I received today. The photo on the left are of the stays in Kyoto. The blue stays are so 1790's in design it's amazing to look at them. Please check out the set I have up on flickr for pictures of both the blue and green stays. Also, if anyone happens to know what language the wording on the fan is (I think it's German?), please let me know! I'd love to have a translation of what's on the fan since it came in the package with the stays.
