I *finally* got around to one of the Spanish Surcotes. I've had this particular one pinned up and folded for umm...a while. It's a lovely black cotton twill on the outside and the fabric is faced on the inside with an awesome colorful jacquard velveteen. Because I want to show the velveteen faux lining off a bit, I'm adding bias tape to the edges, I think. I don't want to roll the front edge because it really won't lay right without a "real" lining. I know it won't be h/a but that's not quite what I'm going for with this one. This one is supposed to be light enough that I can wear it around Pennsic but heavy enough that it should be fine through most of the Renaissance Faire. The lines for it are all accurate for the late 16th c, just the idea of adding bias tape isn't. :-)
I also decided to get to work on this pink cotton/??? blend brocade that I couldn't decide on whether it wanted to be a 1550's Italian or an early Elizabethan. Yesterday, I figured out it wanted to be a 1550's Italian so that's cut out too and I need to sew it up.
I also need to sew up the pink linen 1520's Italian.......
It's a good thing I'm staying inside today due to the heat! I need to sew!
