Happy Halloween!
Oct. 31st, 2010 08:12 pmI ended up wearing my "old" blue 18th c dress because I made the pink one about an inch too small...which is an inch too much in an 18th c dress. It doesn't matter much because the trick or treaters (and their parents!) love it.
BTW, TCM (Turner Classic Movies) is awesome. Seriously. It has taught me that I *love* William Church movies. They are movies with great turns and twists that actually keep you guessing. It's awesome.
The costume contest at the boat club: The mad Hatter won; not my family in steampunk. Oh well, I think it's because Mom's outfit came out.....big. Like really big. When I tried to sew the corset, I could wrap it around myself 1 1/2 times without pulling it tight. I have no idea what is up with Butterick patterns but it's like the entire line is made for womens basketball players or something.... So, Mom ended up with no corset and a jacket that was too big for her because I didn't realize how big it was until she tried it on...and by that point, it was too late. Next year, I'm allowed to choose and we are going as either characters from Harry Potter (I'm going as Fleur Delacour) or the French Court of Marie Antoinette... I have yet to decide. But, I'll get the outfits done before October next year so I can do things like fittings...
