Sewing Update
May. 31st, 2011 07:34 amI had just finished mowing the front lawn when I looked up and saw a truck parked over to the side yard. I thought it was Mom and Dad's truck but figured they weren't stopping by yesterday -they were heading straight home. But nope, after their weekend boating trip, Mom didn't want me to have to come all the way over just to make sure everything fit her; so, they stopped by.
I probably should post pictures but I'll do that tonight. I finished Mom's shoes and chemise over the weekend. She tried on her stays yesterday and they fit well but looked to be the slightest hint loose so I'm taking the back apart and taking about an inch off.
The stays fit perfectly lengthwise. Which is good because I was a bit concerned about the front of the stays poking Mom under the arms but she said they were quite comfortable. (She actually sounded surprised by how comfortable the stays were).
So, once I sew back in the back part of the stays, sew up those eyelets, and finish the binding, I can start on the mock up for the jacket. I also need to make the petticoat.
I got Mom some more brown stripped linen for the last dress. It's a pretty milk chocolate brown with dark chocolate stripes. This way, she'll have at least three separate outfits to wear. I might get one of two of them done this week!
