At this point, ten years ago, I was looking forward to going to Egypt as part of a college winterium trip. The plane ride meant shopping and being able to wander about the airport freely. You didn't need a boarding pass to get to the gate but I was going to receive mine in about another two weeks and I was super excited. I think I got the purple body bag (LL Bean rolling duffle bag) that year for Christmas.
Now I'm slightly worried but excited about the new medication Miss Ginsie is going on tomorrow for her epilepsy. I didn't even get Miss Ginsie until 2004 -during graduate school when I was still hoping that I'd go back to museum work. I'm not in museums anymore and I'm still working with computers -something I did as a part time job in college but never thought that THAT would be my career. I mean, my degree is in Classical Studies for cryin' out loud! ;-)
I do own my home now -something I didn't even really think about in college. I always thought I'd have an apartment in the city or something like that.
In 2001, I thought I'd get a red beetle for a car. I heard they were going to get convertible ones available in 2002. I ended up with a RAV4 that was a pain in the neck to upkeep compared to the Escape. Bella -what my truck's name is- is much much better. It has a built in towing package and doesn't go completely dry of oil every three months...
In 2001, I could tell you everything you ever wanted to know about antique doll houses and dolls. Now, although I still love my doll collection and do hope to expand it again someday, there is the space issue. Collecting antique clothing is just as expensive but the space issue isn't as big a problem. ;-)
In 2001, my hair was purple for a short time. ...I probably should go back to that.
...in fact, I think I have purple hair dye upstairs....
hmmm......
In other news: Oh my goodness was today hectic! I had planned on just picking up Miss Ginsie's new prescription, going to G Street to see if they had the trim I need for the 18th c gown, and then go to Walmart to fill Ginsie's prescription. What should have taken a grand total of an hour and a half due to distances between each location took nearly 4 hours. Actually, I gave up at one point and went home only to have to turn right back around and go get Ginsie's new meds.
Everything had been going great until Wally World. G Street was even having a sale and had the trim I needed for $1.95 a yard normally. For those on my f-list that don't know about G street -it's a last ditch attempt in the DC fabric shopping world because the prices there are so ridiculous. I've seen fabric I've bought in LA for $10 a yard go for $120 a yard there. It really, truly, is cheaper sometimes to buy the plane ticket for LA than to shop at G Street.
Anyway, got 10 yards of trim for a mere $15.50. Got back into the truck and headed up to Wally World in Laurel, MD since it's the closest one to me that it's in a super scary neighborhood. I got there at 1:40 pm. I had Ginsie in the car. The lunch break for the pharmacy staff was from 1:30 until 2. Since it was hardly hot out and it's not bitter cold out either for once, I figured Ginsie would be fine for a half hour. (She was) I ended up picking up a few items that I needed over the course of the twenty minutes and then waited while the staff slowly opened the pharmacy again.
I explained that the meds were for a dog which they got. The guy behind the counter told me it would be ready in 45 minutes. Okay, fine. I was going to head home, leave the pup there, and then come back but I got distracted. I thought Ginsie might like going through the car wash. As soon as I pull up for the nearby car wash, so do five other cars. I waited for maybe 10 minutes before giving up and getting lunch via the drive thru at Chick-Fi-La. The drive thru lady was very sweet and got why I needed an empty bowl (to put water in for the pup!) so she gave me a small salad bowl. After eating, I let Ginsie out for a bit but quickly put her back in the truck for round two with Wally World. It had been an hour and I figured her prescription would be ready.
The lady behind the counter told me it wouldn't be ready until 5. It was already 3:20 by this point. I knew I had to get the pup home -we had been in the car since 11:30- so I just left...with five boxes of Pepsi Throwback. They had it there for $2.95 a pack! Anyway, get home, let Miss Ginsie out in the front lawn, and see on my phone I have a message from an unknown number at 3:24. Who is it but the pharmacy saying the prescription is ready. Gar! I was just there!
So...we hop back into the truck and go all the way back. I finally got her prescription and I'm starting her on it tomorrow. Ginsie is going cold turkey on the Potassium Bromide in order to start on the Zonisamide. I'm really hoping this works but I honestly have no idea. I just want to keep the seizures at bay as best I can because she doesn't need to suffer through them like she has been.....
