I'm going to just nod my head and agree with you chapter and verse on that. Unfortunately it is where most people are located so its kind of a necessary evil (and I hate phrasing it that way, since you're right, it isn't a "necessary" anything). I think the only time I was ever glad to be able to update the world about my status on such a general scale was during the Mumbai attack, and that's hardly an everyday occurrence in anyone's life I know.
