I've gone to Storvik novice every year since I've officially been in the SCA. Since it's now only 10 minutes from my house, I had zero excuse not to go except that for some odd reason, all my chemises were not in sight.

Not only were my chemises missing, but so was the blue gown from heck. I found the pink skirt from heck so that was find to take for the "Then and Now". I tore the house apart and found one chemise but no blue gown. Maybe the gown is conspiring with the chemises to take over the sewing room? Who knows. I'll find them tomorrow, I'm sure.
Well, after I found a chemise it was a "what to wear" decision. I have tons upon tons of garb. But I hate wearing something I know people have seen in the past year (yes, I have about that much garb. Shut up.) So I was going to just wear my renn fest scottish outfit.
Not that there is anything wrong with the renn fest scottish outfit other than it's very purple-y and the bodice is no where near accurate...the coat I wear with it is actually very accurate for late 16th c and I'm sure that someone somewhere can find documentation for purple plaid skirts but a double front lacing bodice? No. Also, the bodice is a bit short. It comes to my rib cage so it makes me look a bit funny but with the overcoat/gown (no sleeves) it doesn't matter.
I decided against it and it's a very good things as it turns out later. My second choice was my Mary Magdalen gown. I still have yet to take two minutes and make the sleeves for the gown but it doesn't matter much. I've lost enough weight that the gown doesn't fit quiet right anymore. So that got thrown out.
I went back downstairs to look for the blue gown when I saw my long nearly finished project from last year. Every year I have a crazy project. This year it's the Helena of Snakenborg gown. Last year it was to hand sew an Italian gown. The gown only needed a few more eyelets to it and it would be done.
It's in the early 1500's underbust fashion. The gown is 100% changeable silk. It goes from pink to blue and looks purple-y. Considering all I could find was my old cotton gauze chemise, the Italian gown was perfect. So I spent a half hour sewing up the eyelets; changed into that; found some jewlery to wear; braided my hair and put it into a snood; and then grabbed everything including the dog to go ten minutes down the road.
I set up at A&S and then went in search of peoples. Through out the day I saw [livejournal.com profile] fabricdragon and got a new amber cross and pearls. I'm thinking another French hood for the pearls. Maybe a forepart. I'll think about it. I also ran into [livejournal.com profile] feymaker doing a scroll for Baroness Elizabeth that was oh so pretty. I'll post pictures of everything tomorrow. I also saw [livejournal.com profile] attack_laurel who had the prettiest pink ribbons above her boots. I have no idea why I liked the ribbons so much other than they really just brought the outfit she was wearing together. (I think Miss Ginsie liked them too...) And I saw Baroness Molly who I'm sure will post about what happened to her in morning court. :-D And a ton of other people I know. Basically, it was tons of fun through out the day.
Well, evening court started and Auleria and I decided to sit in the back because I knew Ginsie would act up. She is really an odd furball. She's fine sitting around and doing whatever through out the day but at court? It's "Mommy? why aren't you paying attention to me" time. she won't really bother other people as long as I stay in the back. Her big thing is she jumps up on me and looks at me with those big brown eyes and might make some little sound that only I and maybe a couple of people around me can hear. So I stay in the back. I know why she does this. It's because court starts almost always around the 5-6 time frame and her dinner time is 5:30. Basically, she's starving. And here I am and all the other people she knows sitting and doing nothing about it! :-)
Well, court was interesting because I knew almost every single person who got an award. And there were a LOT of awards. Dwarf, Orm, Auleria, Gasphar, Mauve, Baron Sean, Baroness Elizabeth...almost everyone. Oh yeah! and me. :-) I recieved my AoA. The promissary says I recieved it for garb. ::giggles:: Well, I'm glad I wore my hand sewn Italian and not the scottish renn faire garb. That would have been interesting! Talk about a snark fest!
So, feast was great. Bread, cheese, olives, soup, chicken (which was really yummy), roast beef, carrots, salad....and pie! I love apple pie...::insert homer simpson like drool here::pie....

So that was basically novice. I'm sure I'll add more later like pictures and stuff.
