Like I mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] molly_world earlier, I have red/white crossweave linen that wants to become a Norse outfit. Now, I'm trying to decide what kind of Norse outfit. Should I do a white linen undertunic, a red/white apron dress, and a black caftan? Or, should I do a red/white undertunic and a black apron dress? Or should I cut up my blue linen and use that too somehow? The black wool I have is thin. I'll be wearing some of it to the TnT event on Oct 27. So, I think that would be better suited for an apron than a full caftan. Also, as long as I layer (white under tunic, red/white over tunic) I should be okay for cold weather. (That and my shawls. I have a ton of shawls.)

Any opinions?

I will! I think I'll be wearing my red/orange wool doublet with my black wool skirt. I hope I'll have the doublet embroidery done by then.

Personally, I'd use the pattened fabric for the apron and a solid for the underdress. And caftans ROCK!! I totally swore off cloaks after getting my first coat. And a shawl helps to keep in a lot of heat, especially around the neck area.

Okay. So, I'm thinking white linen underdress, the red-white crossweave (it's not patterned per se as much as it looks...well you can see the white threads and you can see the red threads and it looks like brick all together...I should take a picture of it, shouldn't I?) for the apron dress, and then maybe a caftan outta something I have around here...hmmm...

I did find reasonable looking brooches for the outfit. Some of the 1950's sweater clasps work really well...
