Stupid people rant
Oct. 25th, 2007 09:19 amNigerian scams are not new people. They've been around for 90+ years! If some poor widow from a country you can't place on a map writes to your inbox saying what a good heart you are, run away. Or play the game and get the 20 something male to send you the fake cheque so you can place it on your mantle with pride. (It costs them a lot of money to send the cheques so they end up out of money, not you.)
If some couple "buys" your services and send a lot more than the amount and then says they need the money back, run away. You've probably never met them; never even talked to them on the phone (if you have, it's a florida number.). It's a scam. Deal.
Remember when you were little the rules? Don't talk to strangers; don't accept candy from strangers; don't eat candy that looks like it's been tampered with; ect. Think of these cheques as candy. Follow the rules now that you are grown. It's not hard.
Honestly, most people that fall for this idiot scams are not grandmas but middle aged men. How do I know? At my old job I had to deal with people that lost money to the scam or were about to. We only once got a "grandma". Every single other one was a male between 45-65.
Don't open email that you don't know whom it's from. This goes back to the "dont' talk to strangers" rule. Unless the subject has to deal with your website, don't open it. It's simple. Listen to your parents, people. They were right!
