Went to Winterthur today
Jan. 6th, 2007 06:44 pmI'll post more later but I went to see the Fashiona nd Film exhibit since this is the last weekend. I noticed a couple of things that no one really has talked about (or at least I overlooked:-) ) The "Just Breath" gown has lined sleeves. There is also a small bit of plain gold trim around the upper "gauntlet". The indentations on the bottom of the underskirt are small knots, not beads. The embroidered part of the overskirt and non-embroidered part are the same color (or at least it looked that way to me) it's just that the silver embroidery makes the panels look lighter. The goldish lace that is beneath the center front is also used at the very edge of the sleeves.
As for the Elizabeth dress, I was only surprised about the oversleeves. I didn't realize they were a green net. The dress is a mossy light green for lack of a better word for it. To me, the undersleeves looked machine embroidered which kinda detracted from it. I honestly liked the "Dangerous Liasions" gowns much better. Especially the pink one. I think I might make that one after my other five dresses I have lined up right now.
I was slightly amused about the amount of mis-information going on. There were tons of people there and a lot of people thought they were experts on everything. I loved the one about the chemise acting as a corset...::sighs::
Anyways, It was amusing. I'll go back to sewing and playing with the puppies and looking for houses now.
