I've been planning on going to the SCA event today but right now? I really don't want to move. I just have a little head cold, nothing serious, but I did take 4 hours off of work yesterday. (Okay, so that was more because my computers crashed, I got a bloody nose, and one of my co-workers had a perfume on I was allergic too and I couldn't stop coughing...all within an hour. I figured that was God's way of saying go home.)

My main problem with some of the "smaller" events is that everything gets very spaced out. If you want to take a class at 9 am and then another one at 1, you just sit there from 10-1 doing nothing. Yes, I realize that's why a lot of people, including myself, bring "projects" to work on at events...the very knowledge that a lot of the time you will be sitting around doing nothing but looking pretty. Like I said, this only happens at the smaller events. Any two day events I've been too have been great.
I really wish I could go to Ymir but ummm...St. Kitts for a week versus freezing outside trying to "experiment" with the rest of my household in our favorite game: does it burn? I think I'll take St. Kitts. Not that "does it burn?" isn't fun...it's just that wearing a swimsuit in February without turning blue beats it out.

I'm leaning towards not going right now. I really hate that because I know I won't be at another event for almost a month. But at the same time, sitting happily in my house, eating whatever is left in the fridge and sewing up a few things I need to sew sounds awful good....especially if I'm going out tomorrow night.

On the sewing front: I'm going to start on the shirt for the green 16th c gown. It's going to look similar to this one. I couldn't find the portrait I really wanted to make it after. It's during the same time frame (1550's) and the lady is wearing a similar styled shirt but with a green dress and she has it a little bit more open in the front with ties at the neck.
I'm also going to make a pair of 18th c stays. I'm using silk scraps that are big enough to make a pair of stays out of. I think I could make three quilts at this point and still have scraps to spare. The silk I'm using for the body is red doupioni which isn't the best to use but this is for something that won't really be seen. I'm trying to find some black silk for edging in my scrap pile but I think I might just go with the green and add black embroidered dots to have "strawberry stays". :-) I'm going to use Butterick 4484 which I know some of you have used in the past. How is it in terms of sizing? I want to do the front lacing only option.
