Not allowed on Ebay for a month at least!
Jan. 27th, 2008 07:18 pmDon't get me wrong, I'm very happy with what I've bought lately but I just don't want to spend anymore money. I've gotten a LOT of silk (10 yards of blue silk and another 10 yards of pink silk for about $2.50 a yard each) which will be great for any 18th c clothing I want to make (not that I don't have enough fabric with that to begin with...).
I also bought a lovely extant 1820's gown. I don't think many people saw it because I got it for only $50 above the reserve and the reserve wasn't that high. So now I have two 1820's gowns (although I think the one I have upstairs is really 1810) and one 1800's gown. Now to get an 1830's gown and my early half of the 19th c collection will be complete! :-)
Some of the non-regular sellers every so often come on ebay with great stuff but since they don't have a regular following, no one really looks in our their auctions...which is great for me because I get all the really good stuff for a heck of a lot less. (I saw an 1800's dress just recently go for nearly $700. I haven't ever even paid half that much for any of my collection. It went that high because the seller is always listing high quality items.)
So, nothing new on the sewing front. I've been a lazy bum this weekend and very happy about it. I might finish up the shirt but I don't know. I was thinking of cutting out the 18th c stays but I really don't want to cut out the wrong size and I know how these patterns typically are...
