Sewing post!
Feb. 28th, 2010 11:51 pmEvidence that I at least worked on the Turkish outfit. I've added the lining and I'm going to handsew a lot of the rest of it -trims and such. I didn't get it done in time for the event and I feel really bad that I haven't been going to events as much as I probably should. It just seems like something else always comes up!
Today, I did a couple of modern dresses. I really wanted to do something that I could wear to work. The first dress was using Simplicity pattern 9103 (out of print). It's okay but it fits a bit odd. It's pulling at the sides slightly and the neckline is a bit lower than I normally like. It's not indecent but I'd prefer to wear a shell beneath it.
The print is a pink cherry print on the black knit. I had enough left over to make a short dress. This fits perfectly. It's my own pattern. I measured it out, cut it, sewed it up, all in about an hour and a half. Really, the dress is much cuter on me than on the dress dummy. I'm thinking maybe a bit of black lace along the bottom edge?
Anyway, this little project today helped me to remember why I don't like using commercial patterns anymore and why I like using my own....
