Mar. 2nd, 2010 07:27 amFirst, thank you so much for everyone's suggestions and help yesterday regarding the silk. Hugs to y'all! I think I will use it to line a Spanish surcote. That way, it will at least show on the inside of the sleeves!
I realized Sunday that I have an excess of clothing. Like...a really really large excess of clothing. I plan on going through my closet in the next week and just tearing out anything that I haven't worn in a while and adding it to the grand yard sale pile in the shed. (Unless anyone here has a need for medium sized hot topic t-shirts dating back to the last century...literally. Hey, does that make 'em vintage?)
I'll probably go through my costume pile sometime soon to and see what fits still and what doesn't. I'll let everyone know what I'm going to put up on Etsy before I do so.
In sewing news, I ironed out a bunch of linen last night while watching the Dolly Madison special on PBS. It's for a chemise but I discovered that when I cut this out (a very long time ago) I forgot or lost one of the sleeves. Ugh! At least I think I can find some more linen that will work with it for a sleeve but I'd kind of like to find the sleeve I originally cut out!
For the nephew I'm thinking something like this or this will actually work best for him. I'll make both the Renaissance outfit and the Pirate outfitjust so I have an excuse to kidnap him for a couple of weekends in the fall and I'll see what the little one likes best. He's going to choose which colors he wants his outfit to be since he's rather picky on that topic. :-)
