Hand binding the stays...
Jan. 2nd, 2011 07:10 pmIt is taking about two hours to hand bind each piece of the stays. It's basically very long, very tedious, but I know from last time that if I don't do this by hand...I will totally regret it. The ugly stays became ugly because I was taking the binding off three or four times only to have to resew it on because it wouldn't "catch" the edge of the stays. With hand sewing, this isn't any issue.
So, given that it's taking so much time, I'm going to for go the sack back gown for the fitted back because I know how to do fitted back gowns but haven't played with sack backs before. There really isn't enough time to play with a sack back between now and Friday. I can sew up the fitted back in a day only because I know what I'm doing. Alas, I'll get around to a sack back some day...
