I tore apart the sacque back gown, ripped out the lining, threw away the front part of the bodice, and only salvaged the back /skirt. I cut that up so it would work for a fitted gown, cut out a new front and side as well as some more trim. The new dress looks MUCH better even if the sleeves are being evil. They are sleeves. I think they are supposed to be evil. One sleeve was so bad, it was not allowed in the pictures.

Help!

Should I leave the front of Mom's dress plain (it will have silver buttons up the front of it), add criss cross looking velvet, or add faux embroidery?

One side gives an idea of what I was thinking for the velvet, the other side shows the faux embroidery. I'm sorry the picture is horrible but it was with the cell phone. Again, I can also leave it plain given it will have silver buttons up the front of it. (Mom loves buttons!)

Any other ideas on trim/trim placement/lack of trim? I can't respond at work (unless you comment over on dreamwidth, then I can!) because LJ is blocked.

EDIT: I will be moving the bodice trim over and reconfiguring the skirt trim a bit to make it more in keeping with the 18th Century ideals.
