Should I leave the front of Mom's dress plain (it will have silver buttons up the front of it), add criss cross looking velvet, or add faux embroidery?

One side gives an idea of what I was thinking for the velvet, the other side shows the faux embroidery. I'm sorry the picture is horrible but it was with the cell phone. Again, I can also leave it plain given it will have silver buttons up the front of it. (Mom loves buttons!)

Any other ideas on trim/trim placement/lack of trim? I can't respond at work (unless you comment over on dreamwidth, then I can!) because LJ is blocked.

EDIT: I will be moving the bodice trim over and reconfiguring the skirt trim a bit to make it more in keeping with the 18th Century ideals.

My eye went immediately to the embroidery. I think the color contrast is just right, and while the velvet looks nice too, I had to strain a bit to make it out. The embroidery helps to define the bottom edge of the bodice I think.

Definitely the embroidery! It provides a beautiful contrast and makes the look longer!
