The sewing machines can't be Frankensteined like I thought. The bobbin panel of one is totally different from the other. However, I plugged the "broke" one in and did a test sample with it and...it's fine. Other than a slight tension issue -which is very fixable with a bit of work- it doesn't seem to have any issues. Of course, all I did was some straight and zig zag stitches on a scrap of muslin. We'll see the real test tomorrow after I cut out either a new 20th C dress or a new 16th C dress. Oh well, maybe I should go with accuracy for the 20th C one and just use the very slow but working vintage machine. ;-)

I went to the mall after work today because I really need some new clothing -particularly for Vegas. I need some jeans that aren't $50 a piece and sit somewhere within an inch of my actual waist. Preferably straight legged but I'm more picky about my pants not falling off every time I go to sit down. Silly me.

Unfortunately, the only jeans they seem to make anymore barely grace my hip bones. You cannot crouch down to pet your pup or talk to your 3 year old nephew without looking like a plumber! I like my jeans to stay where I have them when I was standing up and I'd prefer the world not see my underwear or accidental give the world the moon. Yet, there is not a pair of jeans that seem to fit where I'd like. Are they only making jeans for people with very short waists?

So no luck in that department. I did find some great short sleeved crocheted shrugs that I was looking for. Old Navy had them for a little over $6 each in a lot of different colors. I got one in magenta, aqua, and silver. They also happened to have strawberry printed PJ bottoms so I couldn't not get those!

Old Navy even had the shoes I was scouring the mall for - espadrilles with an 1" heel - but nothing in my size. Grr! So I'm going to look via the internet now that I know they do exist and not just the ankle crunchers...
