So, I know a lot of people who are reading this already know about the ETSY fail of late. For those that don't, allow me to explain:
There has been a seller upon etsy that has been taking photos from costumers as well as museums and then claiming she can make these items to order without showing pictures of her own work. A few items have been taken down -48 hours after the first complaint- but a few are still up.
The main problem is no longer the seller, but ETSY. They do not respond well to complaints against a particular seller. The link above proves this isn't the first time ETSY has been slow to completely incompetent in their response to any particular situation. They claim they have rules, but do not follow them.
In my own situation, I found out I could no longer post to the forums during this whole "why are they still letting her sell?" crisis. I checked it out and found out my store had been suspended. Since I haven't posted anything in 8 months or so, i was curious what the problem was and emailed etsy. They finally got around to me 72 hours later. In their email, they explained that I had overdue fees for over 12 months and once I paid them, everything would be fine. I double checked - I had 60 cents overdue since Feb. According to ETSY's own policy, anything under a dollar doesn't count. The reason is really because they can't recoup the fees that well if you are paying for less than a dollar via paypal. I sent in the payment anyway immediately after I got that, pointed out to them that it hadn't been 12 months, and I have yet to hear anything back. Yes, my account still is suspended. Over 60 cents apparently.
Given the multiple issues with ETSY's total and complete lack of customer service, (I swear, they are making ebay look good) I'm boycotting them until they show some true improvements in they way they handle situations such as the ones above. This is beyond ridiculous and ETSY needs to smooth line their reporting of fraudulent sellers process as well work on customer service in general.
