Completely Random Update
Feb. 9th, 2013 11:07 pmElizabethan Doublet Gown: I didn't go to the event and I didn't bother finishing the gown - partly because I did run out of gray thread. The doublet part is done. The skirt is mostly sewn. The two piece just aren't attached. And I need to hem the skirt. Oh well. I still have roughly 5 yards left of the dark gray velvet. Turns out I bought the velvet back in March of '06 and it was 8 yards long by 54"...at least, that's what the ebay receipt that was still with the roll claimed. ;-)
Mom's Stays: It took the old stays apart, cut out a new blue cover, and I'll sew them back up tomorrow.
Today, I did some laundry, played a lot of Civ IV, and started to make bread. Since I'm making sourdough, it takes a bit longer than yeast breads. I should be able to put it in the oven tomorrow morning. ;-)
Even though I should be working on the my robe a la Francaise...or Mom's, I've been looking a various ideas and I think I've settled on what I want for my gown. Mom already decided a month ago what she wants. Buttons! Mom is all about buttons. It's a good thing they used them in the 18th C...
