Feb. 11th, 2013 10:26 pmMom's stays are pretty much done. Pictures tomorrow, I promise. I sent Mom a picture before I finished them and she seems pretty happy with the way they are now. They aren't perfect but they look a lot better than before.
I took the old stays apart, made the former front a stomacher piece and added straps for the shoulders to both sides. I covered all three pieces (stomacher and two new side pieces) in a blue cotton blend brocade that I've used for ...well...everything! The brocade actually has a lovely psuedo 18th C look to it which is why I bought it in the first place. I'm going for something similar to this look:

But minus the big bows because Mom thought they looked "itchy". Mom really liked these as well.
