The skirt is a lot wider than it looks in the photos. I just really had the pleats almost ironed down giving it a thinner look. The skirt has about 180" so it's not too shabby. I'm working on the sleeves and the entire dress should be done soon.

Next is Mom's dress. It will be of sage green velvet with rosy pink silk for the lining of the sleeves and the underskirt. It will be done in the 1490~1500 Tudor style. (So not bell sleeve but wide sleeve. And not farthingale.)

Oh, that's so pretty! I want a red brocade Venetian so badly, but I'm holding out until the fabric finds me.

I bet the skirt looks a lot nicer when it's on a person, not a legless wonder, too.

Thanks! I actually had this fabric hiding in my fabric stash for at least 4 years. Probably more. I kept forgetting about it but I brought it out just to keep it "in mind". When I saw this painting (http://realmofvenus.renaissanceitaly.net/wardrobe/Music1560s.jpg), I thought "Oh, that would work!" and ended up with the above dress. So, sometimes you already have the fabric on hand...which is why it's good to have a stash. :-)
