The German Gown
Dec. 30th, 2005 05:11 amYes, I'm still working on it. I finished hand sewing the entire outside of the gown. I'm almost finished hand sewing the lining of the gown. The lining is a linen blend in bright red. The gown itself is a heavy linen in indigo. I'll post picture of the progress later today hopefully.
The main problem I'm runing into is the cut of the gown. I can't tell exactly what's going on with the sides. I'm trying to leave the sides open from mid thigh down, as shown in one of the portraits. (They had skirts underneath to show off so :-p) I should have the gown done for 12th night. If anyone else is going, I'll be the one with the "dear God! Is that really a brocade?" sleeves. You'll understand when I post pictures later. The material is hillarious.
You can see the dress I'm attempting to recreate here on Hope's page. The same model and what looks to be the same cut type gown is also on her page.
