I went over to my parents' last night because my cousin was coming over to dinner. Well, I was talking to my youngest brother, Joey, and he asked me about Medieval Times. He wanted to know if it was real medieval food. I told him no but it was good and he was disappointed because he wanted to go somewhere for real medieval food so...
Joey and his girlfriend Josie (hopefully) are coming to Highland River! Woohoo! I figure that's a good event that is coming up soon for newbies and that is close by (day trip). Joey has his viking outfit so he's good to go. (It's a red linen tunic with trim and lightweight black wool pants. It's not 100% accurate but he won't have any problems.) For Josie, Joey wants me to make her a full tudor. (His specifications were "one of those hoopskirts and the dangling sleeves" aka late Henrician Tudor). I honestly think she's look good in maybe a 13th c style gown with a surcote. I'll get her email from Joey and see if a)she really wants to go and b)what style she likes. I can make up something pretty close to accurate for the early stuff pretty quickly.
Well, Jeannie, my sister in law, heard all of this and she wants to come too. She won't be in town for Highland River so I'm taking her to Storvik Novice. She's bringing my nephew, Marxer. (extra Squee here). We are going to try to convince Randy (my brother, her husband) to come too. I think he might wear either Viking or maybe 16th c Scottish...I'm not sure. I'll bug him about it. I have to email Jeannie and see what she likes. I think she'd look good in 16th c German...maybe it's just the blonde hair blue eyes thing....
So, yes, my entire family is slowly starting to want to come with me to events. Squee! This will be so much fun.
