I lost my camera. I have no idea where I put it. I took the battery out to recharge that but I can't remember where I put the actual camera. I'm really upset about it because there were tons of just beautiful things I saw today that I really wish I captured on film.
There were a lot more kilts today which was nice for MDRF. I managed to see almost everyone I wanted to there in about the first half hour. A lot of people were up at the Dragon Inn which made it easy. :-) I wore my purple linen Italian gown with the purple flannel skirt. A lot of people thought I was crazy given the purple velvet overcoat too but I really wasn't that hot. I didn't have sleeves (well, chemise sleeves) and I had the farthingale which was breezy. :-) Even more seemed to like the dress overall. It fit perfectly and I really liked it myself so I'm going to wear it again next year. Hopefully it will be cool enough to wear it with sleeves then.
While the Rogues were playing, I went to go say hi to some more people when I realized what they had all just been staring at. All I can really say is wow...and not in a good way. On one of the benches near the stage was a woman wearing black jeans, black leather wrist "gauntlets", and a black Vicky's Secret bra...and that was it. She was about a size 10~12 and, well, as one of the gentleman standing near me said "She won't do that again after the sunburn she'll get today". It was really terrifying.
On the other side of the same bench was another lady who was the perfect opposite. She had on a gorgeous black silk Elizabethan-esque gown. The two were just a clash of the good and bad of Renn Faire. The bra lady, the bad; the Elizabethan-esque, the very very good. It was oh so pretty. I really wish I got a picture of her but it was just lovely. I think it was based off of the movie "Elizabeth"'s green dress.
I listened to a few of the bands. There were some really great bag piping groups (other than the Rogues. They are always good) out and about. It really made me wish I had my camera, again, because I could have gotten some really neat videos. Hopefully they'll be back next year.
Around 12:30, I left and headed home. I quickly changed, let Miss Ginsie out, and then went to Mount Vernon. I wish I brought her. I didn't realize they let pups on the grounds during Market Fair. If I had known, I so would have brought her. Ginsie would have LOVED it.
I didn't get to meet up with everyone mainly because it was pretty crowded for Mount Vernon. The line to get into the house went down the length of the lawn. I just went around the gardens, down to the wharf and slave cabin, then back up to the Market. I did get some leather binding tape but they didn't have any booths for period sewing supplies. Most of it looked like furniture merchants. There were a couple of really nice oil floor cloth merchants but it was almost all indoor stuff.
I think I'll just go to the Market Fair at Claude Moore Farm on Oct 19th. They have a really good selection and it's lots of fun when it's cool out.

Date: 2008-09-15 09:21 am (UTC)Some of the stuff I saw wandering around? OMG It was scaaaary. We were attempting to watch The Interpreters and The Pyrates Royale @ The White Hart and were subjected to 2 of the rudest loudest families. The one man kept getting up and flopping himself back down (and yes splashed my tea all over me more than once) talking VERY loud and after they left the other group yelled at their kids throughout the show.
May next weekend be a better weekend both in weather and paytrons.
