experimenting with my hair
Dec. 27th, 2008 04:04 pmI bought a curler. Laugh all you like, it's not burning hot and the curls stay without the need of hairspray for about 24 hours or so...in my hair.
This picture was taken about a month ago. I was trying to figure out which yellow/gold silk looks better against my skin. Hence the odd look I have on my face.
Curls! I took this about a half hour ago or so.
I'm rather liking the curls. Any other opinions?

Date: 2008-12-27 10:27 pm (UTC)Don't feel bad about liking the curls, I have curls and use an iron from time to time to get more of them...it's one of teh cool things about being a girl...you get to be girlie from time to time!

Date: 2008-12-27 10:43 pm (UTC)The only way I can get curls is to 1) use gel, 2) make pin-curls that follow the natural cork-screw formation of my natural waves, and 3) wait for all that to dry. So if I start my hair five hours before I want to go out, I can have curls that last basically until I wash my hair again. My next experiment will be to start the curls the day before. I think I can do it if I sleep on a satin pillowcase.
The redder gold is better for your skin tone, I think. The lighter color is actually very close to your skin tone, but it blends instead of enhances. I bet you look smashing in dark reds!

Date: 2008-12-27 10:56 pm (UTC)It's not so much I feel bad about curling my hair as much as I feel bad about using a curler. I use to be very anti-dying, anti-heat on the hair. However, this curler is very different. I can touch it when it's hot without getting 3rd degree burns. It works differently (according to the lady that sold it to me and the instructions) and uses a different technology rather than just heat. It does work (I still have curls in my hair!) so I'm happy about that. I'm just worried that a few people might take my sudden pro-curler stance (well, this type at least. not the traditional kinds) as a backing out on the whole anti-chemical/heating hair aids thing. I still don't like to overdo it, but the chemicals and curlers have gotten a lot less damaging in the past ten years.
