I bought a curler. Laugh all you like, it's not burning hot and the curls stay without the need of hairspray for about 24 hours or so...in my hair.

This picture was taken about a month ago. I was trying to figure out which yellow/gold silk looks better against my skin. Hence the odd look I have on my face.

Curls! I took this about a half hour ago or so.

I'm rather liking the curls. Any other opinions?

I like the darker one against your skin, I think it's the red/gold, the one on your left shoulder.

Don't feel bad about liking the curls, I have curls and use an iron from time to time to get more of them...it's one of teh cool things about being a girl...you get to be girlie from time to time!

I can't get curling-iron curls to stay more than an hour. But I have naturally wavy hair that is determined to do its own thing. A curling iron doesn't follow the natural shape of my waves, and no power on earth can make my hair break out of the natural shape of the waves.

The only way I can get curls is to 1) use gel, 2) make pin-curls that follow the natural cork-screw formation of my natural waves, and 3) wait for all that to dry. So if I start my hair five hours before I want to go out, I can have curls that last basically until I wash my hair again. My next experiment will be to start the curls the day before. I think I can do it if I sleep on a satin pillowcase.

The redder gold is better for your skin tone, I think. The lighter color is actually very close to your skin tone, but it blends instead of enhances. I bet you look smashing in dark reds!

That was my problem too when it came to curls. My hair is wavy and it took a can of hairspray to keep them for even a couple of hours. However, I bought this new type of curler (la angelique) just a week ago and the lady promised me that you didn't need to use anything in your hair to keep the curls. I tried it and well, the curls stayed in my hair even after I slept on it and without the use to chemicals which is my big thing. I hate the way my hair feels with gels and hairspray.

It looks like the red-gold is the vote so far. Thanks!

I agree with the whole anti-chem feel and hate gels so if you were able to sleep on it and still have curls it sounds like a good possibility for my uncontrolable mess. As for coloring, well considering I'd be completely gray without it, I do have to back off on the anti-chem on that note, but I do pick ones that are safer for my hair and the environment.

Yeap, looks like the red-gold gets the votes.

It's not so much I feel bad about curling my hair as much as I feel bad about using a curler. I use to be very anti-dying, anti-heat on the hair. However, this curler is very different. I can touch it when it's hot without getting 3rd degree burns. It works differently (according to the lady that sold it to me and the instructions) and uses a different technology rather than just heat. It does work (I still have curls in my hair!) so I'm happy about that. I'm just worried that a few people might take my sudden pro-curler stance (well, this type at least. not the traditional kinds) as a backing out on the whole anti-chemical/heating hair aids thing. I still don't like to overdo it, but the chemicals and curlers have gotten a lot less damaging in the past ten years.

I like the curls. I think it makes you look less severe. I'm also thinking of all the shiny hair thingies (technical term :-) ) that you could use to accentuate them...

meow :-)
