Tales of the Victorian Farm

I'm not sure how many might have heard of Tales from the Green Valley, but it is an amazing series about life on an early 17th c farm in Wales. I have the DVD's and love watching about daily life from that time. It has a lot of great information and was done by archeologists & historians. The people in the DVD all dressed in the manner of the early 17th c and could only use tools, food, and equipment that would have been around during that time.

Tales of the Victorian Farm will do the same thing, but be late 19th c. It looks like it will be really interesting (if you are into late 19th c daily life). It's going to be on BBC2 tonight and on the 10th. Since most of us don't get that, I'm guessing it will be out on DVD soon to watch.

Oh, that sounds so cool! I love where I live now, but I'd like to live in the UK just for the TV. :/ I must find Tales from the Green Valley!

It's avaliable through the link above. He accepts paypal. The DVD will work in pretty much any DVD player made in the past 5 years. If yours is older than that, you might have problems. It's meant for the European zoning but most of the new DVD players can play either format.

It's really neat because they do talk about the clothing of the time, the food, the housing, everything you could possibly want to know about early 17th c daily life. I learned a lot from it and really just enjoyed the series.

It is? PayPal? Eep. So tempting. I looked in my library's online catalogue, and it wasn't there. I think the shipping from the UK is enough to deter me from an impulse buy, though.

As off as they were in some aspects, I really miss the House series. I have Pioneer House on DVD and I watch it often. This series sounds just like the House series, but without all the annoying anachronistic attitudes.

It is better, to me, than the House series simply because it's people that know what they are talking about. Rather than the "OMG! A corset?!? You want me to wear a corset?!? Torture!" attitude, you get the "Wait, I can't do a thing without my stays! Lace me up, Baby!" attitude. :-)
