Given the current weather forecast, is anyone considering not going to 12th night? It's currently going to be a mix with a possibility of 2" of snow on Sat. Anyone who has been in DC through a winter before knows exactly what that means: a) they don't have a freakin' clue what will happen and b)black ice. The second is a big concern. My truck can handle pretty much anything (If I can get out of a bunch of parked cars during the middle of a football game in Mississippi by going through a couple of ditches a day after it's rained, I think my truck can handle almost anything!) but I'm not sure about other people's trucks/cars.

I'd hate it if 12th night was cancelled but by the same token, I'd hate it a lot more if someone got into an accident on the way to/from 12th night due to the snow/ice. Any thoughts?

It's funny; over hear on the other coast, we're looking at a whole bunch of us not being able to go to 12th Night because of flooding. All the major interstates are closed.

Ugh! I've been hearing about all the flooding. Hopefully, it will clear up soon!

Nope, I'm still going. Although, I do have a hotel for Friday and Saturday nights since I need to be up and onsite at oh-god-early-for-me thus making Saturday a VERRRRRRY long day.

Just remember, pretty outfits and good food. :-) Hopefully, there will be plenty of people to help out with various setting up/taking down during the day and after feast.

Stafford does not get exactly what DC gets. Here is a lonk to the current forecast for the 22554 zip code:

http://www.weather.com/outlook/homeandgarden/home/wxdetail/22554?dayNum=2

Highs in the day of 45, evening low of 32, rain with chance of wintry mix for precipitation. The site is located on a major road, and minutes off of 95.

Thank you for the link! It is true that it will be warmer, but with a low of 32, that will mean ice on the overpasses. Also, a lot of people will be coming from an hour or two north or west. I'm mainly thinking of people driving down and back up; which won't be entirely safe.

We're going. We both grew up in Wisconsin, and have driven in snow and ice.

My first event was in the middle of North Dakota (literally) in a 12 inch snowstorm. It took 15 hours to get home. That's what you do when you play SCA in the north.

Ack! 15 hours?!? So, are you saying to bring toiletries along? ;-)
