:-)
Happiness is wearing a period dress and getting two cannoli in the same day.
The exhibit was WONDERFUL! I loved being able to see the back of some of the gowns and outfits to really get an idea of how they were made. Great stuff. I need to make the purple sari dress because it just looked awesome. There really is no other reason.
Of the non-costuming stuff, I really want the camp bed too. Can you imagine sleeping in your own canopy bed that folds up while at Pennsic? Now that would be a nice bed to have...
I posted a couple of pictures up on flickr that Mom took of me wearing the dress. (I went to Mom & Dad's after the tea). http://www.flickr.com/photos/jubileel/3317431118/ I'm slightly hunched over but hopefully I don't look like I'm going to commit mass murder anymore. :-)
It was so great to see everyone again! Fort Frederick next?

Date: 2009-02-28 10:38 pm (UTC)Fort Frederick should be fun. I think I'm going to give up on hand sewing the stays and just machine sew 'em. I've had them cut out and halfway done for oh...a year now? :-) Once I get the stays done, I can get the measurements for the dress!

Date: 2009-02-28 10:45 pm (UTC)The dress is super comfy which really has sold me on the period. It's not restrictive, fits similar to many modern styles, and is a pretty easy style to jazz up if you really wanted too. Also, if you make it out of the cheap, solid, cotton? Well, it's period! You don't have to go all out for silks and linen for this time period. Joann's actually tends to have a good variety of period prints in their quilting sections, at least on the East Coast. So it's not an expensive part of history to try and re-create. Another plus! :-)

Date: 2009-03-02 03:49 am (UTC)Thanks! The couch is an antique from the Regency period. My parents bought it years ago at an auction.
