First, I will say I did get something done. I put boning in the front of the Italian dress I just made. I think I might make some green sleeves for it but that will have to wait...

I have enough forest green silk that will match the italian but I'm supposed to make a gown out of it first and just use the rest for the sleeves. But I can't do that because...my sewing machine broke.

Well, it's not mine. Mine broke a long time ago and I kidnapped Mom's and never gave it back. Now, I think I've broken her's too. The tension is all screwy on it and it's doing the loop-du-loop thing. I'm pretty sure all the sewers know what I'm talking about. I tried rechecking the thread and a million other things but it's gone crazy.

I was sewing up the seem of the tent when it decided to give out. So today I figured I'd take both sewing machines over to the fabric store to get fixed. First mistake. Me + fabric store = - $$$ Joanne's, as it turns out, is having a sale on all their "indian" fabrics...which meant all the linen mixes were 50%. Remember, all I needed was someone to fix the machines and I knew I also needed more muslin since I go through that like water. I ended up with a linen/cotton jacquard in off-white, reddish orangy linen, and a black embroided with gold thread linen/rayon fabric plus the muslin. Turns out they don't have anyone there to fix the machines but the cashier told me that there was a place off of muddy branch ave...

Well, I was going to head in that direction anyways because I had to go to Lowes to get a 2 x 4 x 10 and cut it in half for the "portable" garmet rod/wardrobe. I saw muddy branch and the plaza the cashier told me about off of Great Seneca and turned in. I went around the plaza twice and didn't see anything that resembled a sewing machine repair place. I know it was the right one because she said it had a Giant and a Claws restraunt....but there wasn't a sewing machine repair place there.

So I go back out to Great Seneca and head on up to Lowes. I found the exact piece of wood I wanted and it was cheap and I was happy until....I found that the saw was broken! They couldn't cut the wood in half which is all I needed. So I left and went over to Big K for their outdoor sale and I, at least, got a tarp for my tent I'm making. I also go a wooden drying rack so I can hang blanket off of it at Pennsic rather than having them on top of boxes or something.

So then I decide to go over to Rockville pike and see if there is still a sewing machine repair place nearish the petsmart behind white flint. Unfortunatly, I saw "Shady Grove RD" and figured that would take me to Rockville pike without realizing it was going in the WRONG direction. I went all the way down the road until it turned into Piney Meetinghouse and then realized I had no idea where I was.

So...I kept going becuase by that point I could tell I was heading in a SW direction which was towards home and knew I'd hit a road I'd recognize sooner or later. About a half hour later, that worked and I hit river road and jsut took that straight home. So, somehow I spent $120 + and didn't get my sewing machines fixed.... but I did get a lot of linen blends! So tons of fabric but no way to sew it except the old fashioned way and that takes too long. :-)
