I was looking on Etsy for some fun stuff and I saw this very pretty Elizabeth doublet gown. It really, truly, is quite nice and I really like it. It's the listing itself that had me giggling.

The title is : Renaissance Doublet Gown for Women (custom)

but in the listing it says: **The items pictured: forepart, hat, chemise, corset, fathingale, sleeves, and cape are not included in the design costs listed here. The doublet and skirt are not for sale. This is completely customizable. The cost varies dependent on materials and availability, and extra hand work that may be requested, i.e. extra bead work.**

...so, what is for sale again?

I'm pretty sure she meant that *that* particular doublet and skirt aren't for sale and the one you'd receive would be different from the one pictured; aka, made for you, but it just read sort of funny.

LOL. Yeah, I think that's a fail in terms of specifying what IS included in the listing. Sometimes it's easier to just point out what IS for sale first, then follow up with the details of what isn't included.

She has some lovely stuff, although this one:

Just had me thinking "No".

Really, if I were to get into Elizabethan wear, and save up the pennies for it, I'd go to woodsholme. :)
Because someday I want this one:

:-) The sleeves on the red one are interesting. It's like she took a bunch of Italian like elements from various decades in the 16th c and put them together. The lacing like Eleanor, the sleeves like the early 16th c Venetians, the doublet like southern Italy in the late 16th c.... It doesn't mesh right. It does look well made though. It's not like the curtain dress on our recent epic fail of the week....

That black velvet Elizabethan is really nice. Ya know...I think I have the purple version of that trim somewhere...hmmm....
