Tea Party and Fort Fred

Saturday Morning.
I dropped of Miss Ginsie at the vet so she could be boarded. Mom and Dad had a ball to go to and my brother says he's allergic to Ginsie (He isn't. He's allergic to me. We've proven it but he still doesn't believe us.) so I had to leave her there. It wasn't a bad thing since she has a very minor eye infection I wanted checked anyway. (Another brother had pink eye so I think she might have gotten it from him.)
Dropped her off, went to Mom & Dad's, had breakfast (Mom had been cooking bacon and eggs for herself so I decided I needed some too!), and then went back to my house to finish packing. I had the ribbon tie up the front of the caraco/jacket/18th century thingamjig and I figured I could finish that up before Fort Fred while everyone was being very giggly at night.
The problem came when I started to pack. I kept forgetting things and couldn't find things! I ended up forgetting my bumroll (eh) and my camera (doh!), so no pictures from me. :-( I did take a few with my camera phone but my phone says they are too big to send to my email! 0_o? Anyway I eventually managed to get dressed in my stays and drive out to
bauhausfrau's house.
When I arrived, nearly everyone was already outside taking pictures. Everyone looked so gorgeous! I did take a couple of photos and send them to my Mom who commented later that it looked like "something out of Jane Austin". Which was sort of a joke for anyone that can remember the quote in Breaking Dawn.
The tea itself, was, of course, awesomesauce! No, really, we had strawberry jam that much later in the evening got mixed with a bottle or two of champagne. :-) The food was all perfect and I rather liked the pecan bread that I think
madamekat brought. I tried a little bit of everything and was stuffed before I could even clear my plate!
We had fortunes, the present stealing game (where you pick a present out of the bag/basket and the next person is allowed either to steal it or to pick a different one out of the basket. It always starts off with everyone too scared to steal from everyone else and the last person eyeing everyone else's gifts. It's always a lot of fun and very silly.), and readings from a book of manners that turned absolutely hilarious.
The letters in the book were all from the mid 19th century and various persons *cough*
madamekat and
sadievale*cough* read them aloud. It truly did sound like mid-19th c LJ drama. We even had a beautifully written flounce. Really, it was just gorgeous.
After much more champagne, we all took down the hair (mine looked atrocious again so I was glad to take out the raised piece and just happily sit on the floor) and told stories. It was wonderful!
I *think* I went to bed around 11 or so? I'm not sure. Sunday started with breakfast tea (yummy!) and preparing for Fort Fred. It actually turned pretty enough that everyone agreed to wear their outfits. I only had to add the ribbons to my caraco and did that quickly while sitting around in my ugly stays, fichu, and way oversized petticoat (I really need to take in the waist. I realized what I did and I need to keep in mind that not only am I not a 30" waist anymore, I'm most definitely not one when I'm corseted.) To keep the petticoat up, it got pinned to the inside of the caraco and that actually looked rather nice, I think.
Anyway, Fort Fred was great! We got there a little late but it was cloudy, cool, and pretty dry. It didn't rain once while we were there. I ended up with 3 yards of a lovely cotton sateen that has a really neat print to it (pictures to come when I get home), a yard and a half of coutil, a hat pin, a new cap, flat reed boning for $5 (I'm thinking Elizabeth stays?), and a very very pretty pretties book regarding mostly children's outfits at the DAR museum. It has some ladies outfits that are just *drool*. A part of me wants to make the wisteria dress that was in the book but another part of me sees all that embroidery and cringes at how long that would take. Now if I magically got an embroidery machine for my birthday...hmmm....
Yeah. Won't happen.
So, pictures to other people's pictures:

I'll add others that are public as they upload them and I should be able to add the few I have later.
